I am running OS/2 Warp Connect V3, and am trying to install fixpack 26.
This is on a PC that has previously had fixpack 17 (or 10, I’m not sure
which one) installed on it. I think that same fixpack was tried to be
re-applied at a later time and I’m wondering if that has screwed
something up.
When running A:\SERVICE from the first corrective service diskette, I
receive a message: "CSF0094 – A Previous installation of service is
still pending. The system must be rebooted to allow process to complete
before applying additional service." Rebooting the system does not
change anything.
I think that fixpack that has already been installed was attempted to be
re-applied at a later time and I’m wondering if that has screwed
something up.
I have tried booting with the CSF diskettes and applying the fixpack
that way, instead of running A:\SERVICE. The fixpack fully installed,
but OS/2 would not boot, so I had to restore my system (I of course
backed it up before trying to install a fixpack).
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m trying to resolve a problem
on my company president’s laptop.
Please send any replies to jemm…@ibm.net.
Thanks in advance,
Rob Jemmett

A file was left in the root directory of c: that should have been
deleted. I can’t remember any more than that, but somewhere in

I saw something like this recently. MPTS refused to run, giving a
message similar to the above. It claimed I had installed a new release
of MPTS, which I had not done. It turned out that there was a leftover
file \OS2\INSTALL\IBMCSFLK.LST still in existence. I looked inside it
& it happened to be nothing important. Do a DIR *CSF* /A /S to find
all files that might be candidates. I’ve seen different file names
being passed to the locked file processor so best to do a wide search.
If you find one of those locked file processor input files, and you
think it’s doing something that ought to be done, insert these 2 lines
in your CONFIG.SYS somewhere after the HPFS.IFS line:
DEVICE=D:\OS2\INSTALL\IBMCSFLK.SYS D:\OS2\INSTALL\IBMCSFLK.LST
CALL=D:\OS2\INSTALL\IBMCSFLK.EXE D:\OS2\INSTALL\IBMCSFLK.LST
(D is my boot drive)
Then reboot. Or just delete the .LST file. This MAY make SERVICE.EXE
happy. MAYBE. Just be sure you understand this is another of my
patented wild-ass guesses.
And while I’m wild-ass guessing, I’ll guess the .LST file is from a
recent upgrade of Web Explorer, which puts the DEVICE & RUN statements
in the wrong place in CONFIG.SYS, which then fails to process and, more
significantly, fails to delete the .LST file.
