Yes, I can say the same.  I recall at least 2 Fix Packs prompting me
about how there was this one item in the Fix Pack that was not as new
as what I already had on my system.  That something was SB16D2.SYS, the
Sound Blaster 16 device driver.  I replied NO, SERVICE.EXE did not
replace this module on my system, and I avoided the whole problem.  I
didn’t have to reinstall MMOS2, nor did I have to reinstall the Sound
Blaster drivers.

Glad it works for you, unfortunately, it isn’t the clean
install you did that will make the difference for the rest
of us. Having read the readme I knew to nuke all traces of
NS from my drives along with the old plugins and re-install
clean. Even after having done that, several times actually,
my system still locks tight the moment the download is over
and the plugin attempts to prepare the mpeg for viewing.

NT WS Logon to WARP Serve

From: Joe Evans <jlev…@on.bell.ca>
Subject: NT WS Logon to WARP Server
Organization: Bell Canada

I am having trouble changing passwords on a WARP 4.0 server from NT
workstations in that the NT workstations do not see the LAN Server
domain as a valid domain . I seem to remember a note a while back in
regards to this issue.  Does anyone know how resolve this issue??

Does mirroring work under OS/2?

Hy everybody,

unfortunately I’m not able to test it by myself  but rumors say that I
could have problems implementing a software mirroring under OS/2 Warp
Server.
Someone told me that in  case I crash a disk it is not so easy to have the
mirrored disk online.

Does someone can help me to verify if this is just a gossip or a real OS/2
bug?

Thanks a lot and Merry Christmas.

"I am having problems installing Fixpack 22:
Everything works just fine, but then the booting procedure takes
way to long, after that I see a blank desktop only with the preferred
background colour whithout even a mouse
pointer…; no action, no whistle, no fun…
Any suggestions?"

Selective Install isn't Very Selective

Does anyone know a quick workaround for that awful selective install program?
It insists on restoring all system files from the CD to the hard disk and
reverting the video back to plain vanilla EVERYTIME I want to change a
system component.

I guess the real way to do this is to KNOW what devices do what and to edit
the config.sys directly?  I haven’t learned all of the network components
yet, so OS/2 is making life rather difficult.

Can’t get it to detect my SMC EtherPower PCI card.

I will hand it to Microsoft, NT practically installs itself.  OS/2 has the
complexity and difficulty of Linux, which makes me ask "why isn’t it free?".

NETSCAPE & WIN-OS2 SEAMLESS BUG ?

Using Warp 4.0 and Netscape beta 2,
I was having 2 problems with seamless windows programs.
Problem 1]  Running Word Perfect, the typing was very slow.
Problem 2]  Many times starting a windows program would lock the
computer.

I replaced the seamless.dll and it solved both problems.
Later I uninstalled netscape beta 2 and installed the non-beta netscape,
Problem 1 is gone but problem 2 is still there !!
I replaced the seamless.dll again and I haven’t noticed any problems yet
(but it is too soon to tell). Is anyone having any problems starting
windows programs ?

Voice Navigation

Every time I try to load up voice manager to run dictation and turn on the
mic, a message pops up that
says mic not connected or something is using the sound
card.  System sounds work normally and I’ve tried turning them off.  On a
possibly related note, I can’t
seem to record a wav file from the mic, the record
option is greyed out.  If I boot into Warp 3, I can
record fine.  I have a Sound Blaster Pro.  Anyone have
any advice?

WarpCenter Can it be made bigger

Not really a bug, but as it makes the WarpCenter unuseable, it is not
working really well.

Running a 4Mb Matrox Milleneium on an Iiyama VisionMaster Pro 17" at
1280x1024x65536 the WarpCenter is too small for my old eyes (with
glasses) to make out the Tray Icons.

Is there any known way of making it bigger, I do have Large Icons
ticked.

Error 1611, unable to play .mov files

Running Warp 4 with NS/2 GA 2.02, with plugins, only the .wav files work.
When
I try .mov files the Browsers download the file but then croaks with a 1611
error whrn it tries to actually play.
